Maternity Photos
Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 7:02AM
During the pounding that Nashville received by the heavens a few weekends ago, when we couldn't go anywhere and didn't realize the damage that was happening only miles away, we chose to pass the time by taking some maternity photos of me.
I had contacted a few people regarding maternity photos and, although very reasonably priced, just decided that I'd rather spend the money on pro photos when my baby actually ARRIVED and go ahead and try to do some of my own in the meantime.
I put curlers in my hair, did my makeup and set up shop right in our nursery! I decided to wear all white figuring I'd change a few times, but ended up liking the look so just stuck with it! I got all MacGyver on the background, taking a white sheet and clipping it to the celing fan blades using those pant hangers with clips. Worked pretty well! It was already pretty overcast due to all the rain so I just used the light that came in from the nursery window.
For the first part, I just did some self-timer shots, but then I dragged my husband into it. He was pretty good as my photographer, I must say! I was just about 36 weeks when we took these. I did a lot of bra shots, which are really great, but I must apologize, I won't be posting those! (Even though it totally covers up more than a bikini would. But still.)

Look familiar?
Yes, the obligatory heart.
My rings don't fit on my fingers anymore!
Tom had fun turning the camera on himself. I'd be changing my position and I'd look up and he'd be making faces and snapping away.
Rockin' the self timer.
And with Sampson. Who has no idea how rocked his world is about to be! But, he's a sucker for soft blankets and Sailor has tons of them, so I have a feeling he might try to snuggle. When he isn't looking at us from across the room going, "You. YOU did this to me."

You are beautiful!
The picture of you sitting in the chair by the window is Ahhhh-Mazing! You have the most perfectly shaped, beautiful pregnant belly. What a blessing to have these pictures to remind you of that. If you are like me, you'll miss pregnancy when it's months behind you :)
I loved these photos, Liza. They're just really great! I took the liberty to work a bit with them, and would love to e-mail them to you to see what you think of them. Consider this as my gift to the first time parents. :) Give me your e-mail and I'll send to you as soon as possible. I already framed them and all you'll need is to print them. Forgive me if you think I may be prying a little too much, in that case, just gimme a sign and I'll understand. But I bet you'd love to see the pictures. ;) God bless your family.

In case you don't feel comfortable sharing your e-mail through the comments.
Beautiful, beautiful! I have the same feelings as you in regards to photos; I'd rather spend the big bucks when baby is actually here. Though I am disappointed in not seeing the bra pics.
Awww, these are so lovely! You guys did a really great job of taking these yourselves, seriously.
That sucks that your rings don't fit. I would have been so bummed if I had to stop wearing my wedding rings. :( But the necklace is a beautiful idea.
Yeah, it was really weird when I first took them off. I remember to wear them everywhere, though. Probably because I'm paranoid that some McJudgy person will look at my belly, look at my left hand and go, "Huh."
Haha! One day, if we ever meet up, perhaps at some blogging convention, I will bring the bra photos!
They are so awesome. You are a such a doll. Thank you so much, Bambooska! I love the people in the blogosphere - especially my readers!
Thanks, Carol Ann! Do you miss it because now you never get to relax or because you really enjoyed pregnancy? I have a feeling I'll lean toward the first reason!
You are so sweet! Thank you! I think every pregnant lady likes to hear nice things because we just feel so large!
Great photos! I especially love the first two. Also, I've been studying photography a lot this year and come to find out... it's very normal for a photographer to "MacGuyer" their backgrounds! Lol. Oh sure, some have actual store-bought framed backdrops, but there's definitely a place for making the most of your environment. I myself have got some amazing photos with thoroughly MacGuyver'd backgrounds. ;)
These are soo super fabulous. You make me wish I did something other than belly mugshots!
