The Blahgger Cooler: Episode 4 - Interview with Holly Hamann, BlogFrog Co-Founder
Monday, January 31, 2011 at 5:47PM
When I got a text on the first night of Blissdom from Holly Hamann at The Blog Frog mentioning me and a few other bloggers and asking if we wanted to have dinner, I was ecstatic. Um, YES! Why would I say no to having dinner with one of the co-founders of The Blog Frog?
That night, and over the course of the next few days, I go to know Holly - well, as best you can get to know someone over dinner and a few random conversations. And although I may not know all of Holly’s deepest darkest secrets, I can honestly that I get her character. That’s because Holly is one of the most grounded, open and approachable people I have ever met. There’s no hiding, there’s no front, there’s just Holly. If she didn’t have her name tag on or if you didn’t know that she, along with Rustin Banks, co-founded a site that in less than 12 months became the nation’s biggest mom blog network, you’d never guess. You’d simply think she was a sweet, outdoorsy lady from Colorado.
Holly is so utterly unpretentious that I don’t even want to use the word “pretentious” in association with her, even if it is preceded by “un.” She was never to be seen in the same group of people, choosing instead to roam with purpose, learning from the panels and learning about the women whom she supports through The Blog Frog.
And when I asked if she would do a short interview with me, she not only readily agreed, she ran around the convention room, me in tow, to try to find the best spot for it. As you’ll see in the video, there really wasn’t a “good” spot. The background is full of inspired bloggers excitedly chatting away, but I believe you can hear Holly just fine. This was my first video interview EVER, so it’s far from perfect, but Holly is awesome and has some wonderful things to say. My main regret is that I wasn't rolling when I asked Holly over dinner if she believed she chose her path or if her path chose her. In the interest of brevity and knowing I coudn't do justice to a recreation of her answer, know that she believes her path found her.
You can find Holly on twitter @hollyhamann and @theblogfrog. And if you see her at a convention, go say hi. You’re likely to have a brilliantly connected conversation.
