New House: Pendant Lights

As you may know, we're building a house!  And we're very excited about it.  I'm particularly excited about it because I get to dress it up like its my little doll.  MY NICE BIG HOUSE DOLL!!  I can't stop perusing online design stores, looking at paint colors and thinking about accessories.  I also LOVE the lady at Porter Paints who GAVE ME a FULL PAINT FAN DECK with the only request that I return it when I'm done.  Ok, but that's going to be in, like, a year.

Last weekend I spent time with some AH-MAZING ladies in a big house in the woods.  Thankfully, it was not all an elaborate plant to have us all murdered.  And even more thankfully, the awesome Erin Loechner of Design for Mankind and HGTV's online Design Happens was there and she was kind enough to field a few of my design questions.  I tried to keep them at a minimum so as not to be too annoying, but I had to ask SOME THINGS.  I mean, I'd be stupid NOT to, right?

I was considering pendant lights for over our snack bar.  The house plan that we chose is fairly new, so we had the option to add HOOKUPS for pendant lights, but they don't offer the lights themselves.  Which, really, is fine because there's no way they'd offer lights as stellar as the ones Erin found for me.  She was sitting on the couch after I had showed her our flooring/cabinet/granite choices to which she instantly says, "Oh, ok.  Traditional modern," (and I was like, yeah, duh....ok, so THAT'S what my look is called...noted) and I thought she was blogging or answering emails or doing things way more important than searching for lights for my house, but THAT'S WHAT SHE WAS DOING!  So awesome.

And she shows me these.  And I NEVER would have picked them out - probably wouldn't have even found them - but she showed them to me and I was all YES.  THESE WILL BE MY PENDANT LIGHTS.  And I'm REALLY good at saying, "Oh cool, but no thanks," if it's not perfectly my look, but these were PERFECT.  And now I can't WAIT to see them in my kitchen!  How perfectly does this color tie in my flooring?!

There are two designs that I like.  The first was my FAVORITE until I realized that the color it's shown in right here (which is my fav) is an EXTRA $80/light.  Uh...welll...MAYBE...:)

They've got a plain rust color that's less expensive, but it's not as dimensional.  And then I realized that this light is the 12", which might be a little big for three over the snack bar, but the smaller you go the more the design changes.  The 8" has kind of a cool look, and I'd get it in the finish above.

And then there's this deep bowl look, which could be cool.  Not as intricate, but still cool.  And still in the first color.  This is the 8"

And this is the 7".  I think I'd be more apt to go with the bigger one:

But, as of late, I'm kind of feelin' this 9" one.  And if I did this color, it would match my cabinet hardware, but I'll probably stick with the brown-ish.
